50

I am 50. Already 50 or just 50. Is the glass half full or half empty. In other words how do I want to spend the rest of my life. Continue sitting in front of a computer and solve other people’s problems which they wouldn’t have without a computer or do I start over and do what I love.
Swimming, cycling, running, climbing, snowboarding, surfing et cetera and relearn to love life?
There are for sure some little problems to solve.

  • Life costs money
  • Time is scarce
  • I am not in the best shape
  • I want as well spend time with my family (2 kids and my wife)

This means for now I have no other choice as to put my sport ambitions (whatever they are) into an already tight schedule and see what happens.
In the last millennium (this sounds crazy) I did four Ironman races in Roth (Germany), Zurich (Switzerland), Forster (Australia) and Klagenfurt (Austria). It was fun, I liked it a lot and I have only great memories about this time.
Then my first boy was born and I nearly stopped the whole sport stuff. I only managed to do a little bit of jogging and one local 8k race per year in the recent past. Here and there I was able to go for a short trip to the mountains for snowboarding or get a couple of days with friends surfing the French Atlantic waves.
And now I feel it’s time to start over, maybe not as fresh as in the last millennium, but wiser.
